What MealBridge is, what it is not, and what is expected of you.

Not yet reviewed by a lawyer

This describes what MealBridge actually does with your information today, written plainly. It has not been checked by a lawyer and is not a substitute for advice. Tell us if anything here does not match what you see.

1What MealBridge is

MealBridge is a noticeboard. Donors post food they will not use; recipients claim it; volunteers sometimes carry it. The food is handed over directly between people.

MealBridge does not own, handle, store, cook, inspect or transport any food. It is not a shop, a charity distributing goods, or a delivery company.

2Your account

  • Give a real name and an email address you can receive mail at.
  • One account per person. Keep your password to yourself.
  • You must be 16 or over.
  • Tell us if you think someone else is using your account.

3If you list food

You are responsible for the food you list being safe to eat. Confirming the safety checks is a statement of fact, not a formality.

  • List only food that meets the safety rules on the Help page.
  • Describe it accurately, including the amount and any allergens.
  • Be there, or have someone there, at the pickup time you set.
  • Do not list food that has been served, is of unknown origin, or has been kept at unsafe temperatures.

4If you claim food

  • Claim only what you will actually use.
  • Turn up when you said you would, or cancel early enough for someone else to take it.
  • Check the food when you collect it. If something is wrong, do not eat it and tell us.
  • Food listed as free must not be resold. Doing so ends your account.

5If you volunteer

You carry food between two people as a favour to both. You are not employed by MealBridge, you are not paid, and your costs are your own. You are responsible for your own vehicle, licence and insurance.

6Responsibility

Because MealBridge never handles the food, it cannot guarantee that any of it is safe, accurately described, or collected on time. The person who prepared and listed the food is responsible for it, and the person who takes it decides whether to eat it.

MealBridge is provided as it is. We try to keep it running and to act quickly on reports, but we do not promise it will always be available or error-free.

7How to behave here

  • Treat everyone with respect. Discrimination, harassment and abuse are not tolerated.
  • Do not use other people's contact details for anything other than the pickup they relate to.
  • Do not post anything false, misleading or unlawful.
  • Do not use MealBridge to sell food listed as free.

8Ending it

You can delete your account at any time by writing to us. We can suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, particularly where food safety or someone's wellbeing is at stake, and we will say why.

9Changes

These terms can change as MealBridge changes. The date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.
